Formats

  • Best Disc” – Paired partners play their own disc to hole completion. The lower of the partners scores are recorded for the hole. That score is then compared to their competitor’s to determine the out come of that hole (point, no point).
  • Alternate Shot” – Paired partners decide which member will tee off on odd vs. even holes. After the tee shot, the other partner plays their shot from the other partner’s lie and the two continue to alternate until holing out. The team with the fewest number of strokes determines the outcome of the hole (point, no point).
  • Singles” – Player play against their seeded competitor. They play their own disc from tee to holing out. The player with the fewest number of strokes determines the outcome of the hole (point, no point).

Overall Scoring

All matches are scored on the 1, ½, and 0 point system. A win meaning that you had more points than your competitor earns you a full point, a tie earns ½ a point, and a loss earns 0 points. There are a total of 24 point available during the tournament.

12½ points wins the ‘Cup’ outright for the respective team. A tie of 12 points allows the current cup holder to retain the ‘Cup’. Since this is the inaugural year for the cup, the “Captain’s Match” winner (East) will retain the cup.

The 2011 Michigan Cup teams will be chosen on the basis of points compiled by the Michigan Disc Golf Organization. The points system will determine the top ten players for both of the 2011 Michigan Cup teams. In addition, each captain, will have two selections to complete the their respective teams.

Player eligibility:

  • The person must reside in the state of Michigan and present proof of residency (Drivers License, or state issued ID) by September 15th @ 12:00pm to the respective team captain.
  • Team captains must present their teams eligibility documents to the tournament director no later than September 30th @ 5pm.

Points are based upon the following:

  • 4 points will be awarded for each person that finishes the tournament (in the respective division) below the competitor at the Michigan State Finals.
  • 2 points will be awarded for each person that finishes the tournament (in the respective division) below the competitor at the MDGO Featured events picked by each Captain.
  1. March Mush – March 19/20 (split day), Laingsburg
  2. Chain Reaction – May 7, Holly
  3. AJ Open – May 28, Ludington
  4. J-Bird Open – July 2/3 (split day), Mt. Pleasant
  • 1 point will be awarded for each person that finishes the tournament (in the respective division) below the competitor at any A-Tier or higher event held within the state of Michigan.

Divisional spots on each team will be determined by:

  • The person with the most points in a per-determined divisional spot, for each team will earn the invitation.
  • In case of a tie, the higher placing person at the Michigan State Finals will earn an invitation. If none of the tied persons attended or finished the tournament the tie will be broken by the respective team captain in any way they see fit.
  • If the person is eligible for more than one divisional spot, they will have to decide which invitation they will use and the other invitation(s) will move down to the next available eligible player.
  • If the eligible person declines their invitation then the invitation will move down to the next available eligible player.
  • If no players are eligible for a division invitation for their respective team, the invitation will be converted to a “at large” divisional invitation.
